Actor Maxwell Jenkins Visits ASPCA Adoption Center to Bring Holiday Cheer to Animals Waiting for Homes
Recently, actor, animal advocate and pit bull lover, Maxwell Jenkins visited the ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City to help raise awareness for some of the adorable pups who are looking for loving homes this holiday season.
During the visit, Maxwell joined our staff for an Instagram Live with Legend, an eight-month-old pit bull mix who came to us through our NYPD Partnership after a good Samaritan found him alone and emaciated. Maxwell also participated in our Storytelling Program, an initiative designed specifically to socialize victimized dogs brought in through the ASPCA’s partnership with the NYPD. Legend cozied up while Maxwell read him a holiday story.
“Pit bulls are among the most at-risk population in shelters today, and as a proud pittie owner, I know firsthand that these loveable pups make wonderful companions, enriching the lives of their families,” says Maxwell. “When you provide a home and safety to animals who are often overlooked, it’s an act of admirable compassion that provides companionship and support to both people and pets. I’m excited to partner with the ASPCA to bring awareness to the countless, vulnerable dogs across the country who are seeking adoptive homes this holiday season and encourage everyone to make a lifesaving difference for animals in need by adopting, volunteering or donating to their local animal shelter.”
At a time when many animal shelters across the country are struggling with capacity challenges as more animals are coming into shelters than are leaving, we are grateful to Maxwell for using his platform to urge the public to support their local animal shelters this holiday season and beyond.
Since his day with Maxwell, Legend has been adopted but you can adopt one of his canine pals at the ASPCA by checking out our available dogs in New York City.
