Former Cruelty Victim, Apple, Gets Her Best Day Ever!
Apple was brought into the ASPCA by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) after being found abandoned, tethered to a pole and suffering from recent bite wounds on her head and front forelimbs. As Apple healed in our care, she spent time at the ASPCA Animal Recovery Center until she was ready to be made available for adoption. So, while Apple waited, we decided that she deserved the best day ever in honor of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, when we encourage everyone to make a difference for the millions of shelter dogs who are waiting for loving homes.
We asked our supporters to vote for which activity Apple should get on her special, great day. Would it be to wear jammies, eat some peanut butter, play in water or get plenty of cuddles? Well, the response was so great that we decided that the winning activity should be…
ALL OF THEM! Sweet Apple has been through so much, of course she deserves it all. Like all the dogs we work to rescue and protect year-round, Apple deserves above all, a happy, safe home. See photos from Apple’s great day and find out more about her below!
She donned her best jammies!
She played in water!
She got peanut butter and plenty of treats!
And LOTS of snuggles!
Best of all, she got to show us her lovable, goofy side.
Apple is currently available for adoption through the ASPCA Adoption Center. If you’re in the Tri-State area and are interested in meeting Apple, please read through her full bio completely and then contact the Adoption Center at (212) 876-7700, ext. 4120.
If you’re unable to adopt but still want to help shelter dogs in need, visit or contact your local shelter or rescue to find out how you can make a difference this Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and year-round.
