Announcing the 2018 ASPCA Calendar Cover Pet!
The ASPCA Calendar Cover pet helps spread our life-saving message to homes all across America, and today we are excited to announce the adorable adopted companion who will be gracing the cover of the 2018 ASPCA Calendar: Bonnie!
Bonnie was transferred to the ASPCA Animal Hospital after being surrendered to a New York City animal shelter. She had been hit by a car, and her owners could not afford her medical care. It’s a miracle that this tiny dog survived—her pelvis was completely squashed. After her surgery, Jennifer, a Licensed Veterinary Technician at our hospital, agreed to foster Bonnie and provide her with physical therapy. When she first brought Bonnie home, she couldn’t stand or walk—but with a lot of TLC, she was standing and attempting to walk only a week later!
Jennifer and Bonnie
Jennifer cared for Bonnie for several months, and at the end of her foster, she just couldn’t bring herself to return the special dog. “I had no intention of adopting another dog at the time, but Bonnie had stolen my heart,” she says. Just a few months later, Bonnie and Jennifer shared their sweet story in their very own ASPCA Happy Tail.
Bonnie and Maggie May
Today, Bonnie is a very happy little dog and has become completely attached to her Puggle sibling, Maggie May, who was also adopted from the ASPCA.
“I could not imagine my life without her,” Jennifer says. “She is a sweet, loving, funny character. She certainly completed my family!”
