Face-to-Face Fundraising

Fundraiser next to dog

The ASPCA's face-to-face fundraising teams are comprised of knowledgeable and highly trained professional fundraisers who work for one of our trusted professional fundraising agency partners. These professional solicitors are in communities like yours, engaging people in conversations about the ASPCA's lifesaving efforts. They provide an opportunity for individuals to take immediate action by signing up for the ASPCA Guardian Giving Program, allowing them to make a meaningful difference for animals across the United States.

Members of the ASPCA Guardian Giving Program, known as ASPCA Guardians, are compassionate individuals from communities like yours who provide regular donations that make a lifesaving difference for suffering animals

ASPCA Guardians:

  • Are there for animals day after day, providing the ongoing support that saves lives – rescuing animals from situations like cruel puppy mills and deadly dog-fighting rings, from overwhelming hoarding situations and large-scale abuse.
  • Allow us to be ready at a moment's notice when animals need help in communities impacted by devastating hurricanes, wildfires, tornados and other natural disasters.
  • Receive a variety of benefits in addition to the knowledge that they’re saving animals lives, like an annual member card, our member magazine ASPCA Action, a beautiful wall calendar, and more.

If we're fundraising in your area, you may see a member of our dedicated and enthusiastic face-to-face fundraising teams on busy streets, in a mall, or outside grocery stores and other businesses in your community.

If you have any inquiries or feedback about any of our fundraising activities, please contact our friendly Member Support team at (888) 779-5599 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.

Face-to-Face Fundraising FAQs

How can I know someone is a legitimate ASPCA fundraiser?

Our Fundraisers:

  • Will always have an ID badge clearly stating they are a paid professional fundraiser with their name and photo, and the name of the company they work for.
  • Will always be wearing branded ASPCA clothing, such as jackets, t-shirts or hats. They will also all carry branded materials, including a new Guardian welcome brochure and a “thank you for listening card” with our Member Support phone number.
  • Will never ask for cash or check donations -- we are asking for support by credit card or direct debit as it's a safe, convenient and most efficient way to give.
  • Will always be using tablets and will never ask a member of the public to write any details on a paper form.

Why do we use face-to-face fundraisers?

Face-to-face fundraising is a cost-efficient and effective way for the ASPCA to connect with new or potential supporters across the United States. It allows for a positive, dynamic conversation with an ASPCA representative for a more in-depth look at some of the ways we save, transform, and protect the lives of animals all across the country. It's a great way to spread our message and get more people involved!

Why can't I make a one-time gift with a face-to-face fundraiser?

We appreciate your generosity and desire to make a one-time gift with one of our in-person fundraising representatives. However, in face-to-face fundraising, we focus on building long-term relationships and ensuring that every donation is used effectively to make a lasting impact on animals in need. ASPCA Guardians are there for animals day after day, providing the ongoing support we need to save lives no matter what animals are facing. With their continued generosity, ASPCA Guardians rescue animals from cruel puppy mills and deadly dog-fighting rings; from overwhelming hoarding situations and large-scale abuse; and from devastating natural disasters.

A one-time gift can be made online and is always appreciated.

Why does the ASPCA have face-to-face fundraisers in communities across the United States, including in cities without ASPCA facilities?

The mission of the ASPCA is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States, making us a national animal welfare organization. For more than 150 years, we’ve been on the frontlines to save, transform, and protect millions of lives in the fight against animal cruelty. As the nation’s first and leading animal welfare organization, we surround the most critical issues from every angle, including tackling the most challenging cases in the most challenging places, not just where the ASPCA has brick-and-mortar facilities. As such, we seek to engage potential supporters across the country.

Is my personal information secure?

One hundred percent secure! Our fundraising partners are compliant with Payment Card Industry (PCI) regulations. Our fundraisers use tablets to electronically collect your payment information, and once your gift is submitted, they can no longer access it. You will also immediately receive an email from the ASPCA confirming your gift. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Member Support team at (888) 779-5599 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. Or email [email protected].
