The last Tuesday of every February is World Spay Day. To celebrate this day—and highlight the life-saving importance of spay/neuter services—we checked in with some of the ASPCA’s own Spay/Neuter Advocates who are on the ground every day making a difference in the lives of animals and their families.

Many of you may recognize Toefu as the cover star of the ASPCA’s 2015 calendar. But while her cuteness is apparent, her heroic story deserves some of the spotlight, too. Fortunately, our friends at Reader’s Digest got the scoop.

Whether you believe in luck or in fate, one thing is certain: Lucas the cat has both on his side. Rescued at the last minute from a perilous situation, he survived and went on to live a charmed life in the home of an ASPCA staffer. Here is this heroic cat’s very Happy Tail.
