In late July, the ASPCA assisted the New York City Police Department (NYPD) with the rescue of more than 25 dogs from a cruelty situation in Queens, New York. Since their rescue, the dogs have been in our expert care, receiving behavioral and medical treatment as the case develops.

Friday, June 11, 2021, the ASPCA filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for failure to enforce the Animal Welfare Act—a federal law passed more than 50 years ago to ensure the humane treatment and care of commercially bred dogs.

Last month’s presidential election has resulted in preparation for a new administration, and with it, renewed hope for reforms that will help animals. We encourage President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to use their time in office to make progress on a bipartisan issue we all care about deeply—improving animal welfare.
