If you look up “snuggle bug” in the dictionary you’re sure to find a picture of Moana! Originally overwhelmed by the big city, this sweet gal is currently learning to relax and overcome her fears in a comfy Connecticut foster home. Moana’s on the hunt for a friendly new family to join, and she’s hoping it might be yours!
Big fan of: Belly rubs! Moana takes a little time warming up to new people, but give her a few minutes and Moana will start calling you a friend! How can you tell when she’s comfortable around you? You won’t be able to miss it—Moana will flop right onto her back with her legs in the air! As soon as you start giving her those sweet belly scratches a goofy grin spreads across her face, and Moana may even try to give you a kiss or two! Don’t think you’re getting off the hook easily—as soon as you stop scratching, Moana will twist and turn until you start again! When she isn’t busy basking in the glory of some good pets, Moana likes to spend her time snoozing away—unless there are other dogs around! Moana loves all pups, big and small, and her playful side shines when she’s around her doggy friends.
Special features: Moana is a sweet southern belle! The hustle and bustle of the city are too much for her, and she tends to get spooked by busy streets and loud sounds. Having a confident pup buddy helps, but Moana needs a human hand to help her become a confident lady!
Dream home: Moana would like a patient adopter who can give her the training she needs to bring her fearless side out! She is currently being fostered in the suburbs in Connecticut, where she is available to meet potential adopters. Moana must go to a home in a quiet neighborhood and could benefit from living with a relaxed, older dog who can show her the ropes. Small kids are a little too much for Moana, so her new family members should be teens and up.
Adoption Ambassador
As part of our adoption program, some of our feline and canine friends have the opportunity to live in foster homes. This allows our Adoption Center and Foster teams to learn more about each animal’s individual personality and needs, while they are in a more comfortable living space, outside of the shelter setting. Through our foster program, we are able to offer adopters a clearer picture of how their new pet will adjust to life in a permanent home. The goal of the Adoption Ambassador program is for these foster animals to be adopted directly from their foster home.
If you are interested in meeting one of our Adoption Ambassador animals, please first call our Adoptions department at (212) 876-7700 ext. 4120 to make an appointment. Our team will provide you with more information.
