Elf

Elf has been with the ASPCA since December 2019, and now he’s finally ready to find a new home with his best friend Dragonfruit! When Elf first arrived, this distinguished older gentleman was clearly very shy, flinching when someone went to pet him and moving to the back of his kennel to get away. After finding a friend in Dragonfruit and receiving lots of love from our Behavior team and a foster caregiver, we’ve seen Elf start to blossom. Elf slowly started to learn that pets and scratches are good, and now, once he’s comfortable, Elf more than willingly asks for love and affection from his humans. When he isn’t getting pets--preferably on his terms--Elf enjoys playtime, especially with shoelaces!

Elf can’t imagine life without Dragonfruit, so they must go home together. They would do best with an experienced adopter who understands that they will take time—likely several weeks or more—to settle into their new home and that they might always be somewhat shy.
