Boy, do we love Buru! We first met this beautiful gal right after she’d been removed from a home with a lot of other cats, and it was clear from the start that she had very little to no experience interacting with people. But Buru has made so much progress, and we can’t wait to see her thrive in an adoptive home!
With the help of a foster caregiver, Buru has learned that the human life really isn’t so bad. She’s still a shy lady and likely always will be—especially around guests, loud sounds and quick movements—but she’s definitely started to come around. After taking a few weeks to settle into her foster home, Buru learned that toys and gentle pets are actually pretty okay! As she began to feel more comfortable, laser pointers, wands and even lacrosse balls became very appealing to Buru—as did spending a little time with her foster mom! Now, Buru can be found following her foster from room to room and even sleeping next to her. Buru is still learning how great pets can be and, now, sometimes enjoys them on the head and neck, particularly when she’s sleepy. Because Buru still isn’t totally sure that human hands bring good things, her new family will need to take petting slow with her and offer scratches only on her terms. Pairing it with some yummy treats could go a long way, too!
Buru would do best in a quiet home with a patient adopter who’s excited to help her continue coming out of her shell! Because kids and dogs may be too much for this sensitive soul, an adults-only home without any kids or pups would be a perfect fit. When it comes to cats, we know that Buru previously lived with other kitties but we’re not sure how they got along—so, if you already have another cat our Matchmakers would be happy to provide information on how to set everyone up for success!
