National Animal Welfare Groups Collaborate to Provide Critical Funding for Local Agencies Assisting Animals Impacted by Hurricane Ian

New York—The Animal Disaster Funding Collaborative – a collective of animal welfare groups across the U.S. – is making special grants available to animal welfare organizations that were directly impacted by Hurricane Ian or were requested to assist impacted organizations. Groups participating in the Collaborative include A Kinder World Foundation, the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), Petco Love, Petfinder Foundation, and PetSmart Charities^®.

 Groups impacted by or responding to the disaster can submit one grant application through a centralized website, which will be reviewed jointly by the five granting organizations. The grants are open to animal shelters, rescues, sanctuaries, food banks, animal hospitals, social services organizations, and government agencies that assist pet owners or animals. Applicants must have been directly affected by Hurricane Ian or have been officially requested to assist an impacted agency to be eligible for the grants. The specific needs of each applicant will determine the total amount of funding received.

The Animal Disaster Funding Collaborative was established to enable organizations to focus their efforts on helping animals in crisis by mitigating funding challenges. The review process for each grant application will be expedited so that urgent funding, once approved, will be provided as soon as possible.

About the Animal Disaster Funding Collaborative
Launched in 2015, the Animal Disaster Funding Collaborative was built to provide coordinated, timely support to animal welfare groups in times of crisis. The grantmaking organizations working together via the Collaborative strive to streamline resources, amplify grant impact and conserve precious time and funds—which are especially scarce in the wake of major disasters. Members currently include private foundations and grantmaking public charities who provide national and/or regional funding that directly or indirectly benefits animals.
