Making a difference for horses

There are many places for people to safely relinquish pet dogs and cats for rehoming. But historically, similar safety net options for equines in transition have been limited. We are actively changing that by creating more pathways to help at-risk horses find new homes, and by working on the ground and in the halls of power to protect the welfare of all equines.

The right horse.
The right person.
A loving home.

The ASPCA is raising the profile of equine adoption so rescues and shelters can help every horse in need. We work with industry and adoption partners across the country to provide horses with the veterinary and behavioral care they need to thrive. Our partners are expert matchmakers who care about forming fulfilling connections for both horse and adopter.

Alongside our work with the equine welfare community, we are dedicated to bringing public awareness and interest to horse adoption. An ASPCA study estimated 1.2 million households — or approximately 2.3 million adults — in the U.S. have both the resources and desire to adopt an at-risk equine. Connecting these adopters with their right horse means lives transformed and lives saved.
