Unique Animals Need Unique People

Some animals need a little more help than others. The ASPCA is dedicated to serving the most vulnerable cats and dogs so they’re ready to be adopted and loved for a lifetime.

All animals deserve care and dignity, especially animals who are older, have behavioral issues or need ongoing medical attention.

Lifesaving Rescue.
Some Extra TLC.
A Fresh Start.

Many vulnerable animals come from abusive or hoarding situations. The ASPCA partners with local shelters, law enforcement and owners who need to surrender their animals to provide necessary resources like medical care and behavioral training.

Our adoption program also gives the physical and emotional attention needed for each shelter animal to know what it feels like to be cared for and loved on their journey to healing and adoption. Potential adopters meet with ASPCA staff matchmakers for one-on-one guidance on the long-term care required, which ensures their new best friend has a smooth transition home.

It takes a special person to adopt a vulnerable animal, but the rewards are worth it.
