Move over, Rudolph, Blitzen’s in town! Adopt Blitzen and you’re sure to celebrate the holidays year-round. And trust us—you won’t just be celebrating the holidays, but also what a lovely, sweet companion she is! Blitzen is a truly wonderful gal who shines just as bright as twinkly lights, and we know you’d say the same when you meet her.

Big fan of: People! Blitzen is the type of pup who’s never met a stranger. As soon as she crossed the threshold of the ASPCA Adoption Center, Blitzen was immediately leaning into the legs of our medical staff members, just begging for pets—and their standard, bulky PPE didn’t stop her one bit! Even after her checkup, Blitzen has continued to show what an enchanting girl she is. Described as, “a sweetheart,” by our Behavior team, Blitzen is happy to receive affection and love from anyone who has even a moment to spare. She’s much more into people than she is toys, and happily ignores stuffies, ropes and balls alike if it means being doted on! The only thing that may compete with Blitzen’s love of people is her love of food. Peanut butter is her snack of choice, but she’ll always take a good dog cookie, too!

Working on: Keeping her attention focused outside! Our staff report that Blitzen is a breeze to harness up and that she generally walks very well—and she’d love some help remembering to go potty outside instead of just sniffing the smells and seeing the sights. When she spots other dogs while out for walks Blitzen does tend to pull towards them—but maybe it’s because she just wants to say hello! Blitzen greets other dogs well while on-leash and does well off-leash with most dogs, too. It would be best to give Blitzen a little time to adjust to a new family and home before introducing her to other dogs, since she’d love to form a solid bond with her people first!

Dream home: Blitzen is a smart girl who would love a human who’s excited to help her keep learning and blossoming with a little more training! Blitzen could probably live well with another dog, and while children and cats may be new for her our Matchmakers would be happy to speak about what she may look like in a home with kids and kitties!
