Taco

Taco is a special little man! Coming to the ASPCA Adoption Center from a home with many other dogs, Taco likely had little to no experience with normal doggy things like walking on leash or meeting unfamiliar people. He’s been making lots of progress during his stay in the shelter and can’t wait to find a home where he can continue to blossom!

Big fan of: Being a lap dog! Once Taco considers you a friend, there’s no place he’d rather be than on your lap—and demanding your full attention! According to ASPCA direct care staff, Taco is a big cuddler and likes to be with his favorite people “at all times.” When it’s time to get up and at ‘em, Taco loves getting outside and going for walks. When sauntering down the street, you’ll most likely see Taco wearing a cute sweater or jacket and smelling all the good smells the world has to offer! There are only two things that Taco may love more than sniffy walks—treats and toys! Chicken, hot dogs and cheese are Taco’s favorite snacks—and if he doesn’t have one of those in his mouth, he probably has a squeaky toy instead!

Working on: Learning to love and interact with new people and things! Because Taco doesn’t have much experience meeting strangers, being in new places or experiencing new things, he’s been fearful of all of the above during his time in the shelter. With his human friends, Taco is still learning that his mouth shouldn’t be used during playtime, and when it comes to other dogs Taco has enjoyed being around his siblings and has tolerated some other pups. But he’s also really not enjoyed his time with some other dogs, too. Taco would do best as the only dog in the home and would thrive with patience and training to help him become an overall more confident guy!

Dream home: Taco is looking for an adopter who lives in a low-traffic area and understands that it will take him time to adjust to any new home. Patience, understanding and compassion for who he is and where he wants to be is key with this little man! Because he’s still learning not to use his mouth to show his excitement, Taco would probably do best with older kids or teens.
