Michael has been described as a “crowd favorite” by ASPCA staff, and he’s hoping to make you a part of that crowd! A smart and social pup, Michael already knows sit, down and shake. He would love an adopter who can help him keep learning—and who can take him on some good outdoor adventures, too!
Big fan of: Making friends! Michael greets everyone with a smile and, whether he’s with people he knows or meeting strangers on the street, has no qualms about asking anyone and everyone if they’d like to be his buddy. Michael is especially fond of the people who take him out for walks because there’s nothing this good boy loves more than an outdoor adventure! It’s a given that Michael will show off his impeccable leash skills while on his way to his favorite place—the park—and he’d love to expand his outings in his new home! Michael is also a big fan of playing with other pups and toys! He adores the flirt pole—which is like a giant cat toy made for dogs—and it’s quite a sight to see. But, if there’s one cute characteristic about Michael that really sticks out, it’s his love of talking. This conversationalist makes funny noises with some whining and barking, and staff love having conversations with him!
Working on: Only using his voice at appropriate times. In his previous home, Michael was reported to bark for attention or when frustrated. Our Behavior staff recommends only giving Michael attention when he’s quiet so as not to reinforce this behavior. He would also benefit from a separated, quiet area where he can relax and special outlets for his physical and mental energy.
Dream home: Michael would like an adopter who can help him continue brushing up on his manners! He could likely live well with another dog around his size and has never lived with cats or children. Our Matchmakers would be happy to speak with interested adopters about whether Michael is a good fit, so fill out our Dog Adoption Survey!
