Sweet Smarty is ready to find a new family! In her previous home, Smarty was reported to be fearful of petting and avoidant of people. But we’ve seen a big change in her during her time at the ASPCA Adoption Center! Now, when Smarty spots a human you can bet she’s at the front of her kennel, rubbing her head against the door to let you know she would like some attention. Smarty definitely enjoys petting and physical affection in short doses and she’ll let you know to keep going by repeatedly rubbing her head against your hands. A human who can use play and treats to continue helping Smarty come out of her shell would be this girl’s dream!

Smarty has previously lived with other kitties and wasn’t a fan, so she’s looking for a home where she can be the only feline. Smarty’s adopter should understand that she will likely take some time adjusting to her new home and allow Smarty to take things at her own pace. Smarty’s previous family reported that she had some trouble with the litter box, but her bathroom habits have been perfect at the shelter.
