For such a small dog, Herman sure does have a large amount of spunk! This friendly boy loves everyone he meets—so much so that he tends to get incredibly excited and forget his manners when around friends or strangers alike. Herman is looking for an adults-only home with a person who can teach him to reign his excitement in!
Big fan of: People! Every time you walk by Herman’s kennel, you can bet he’s standing—or jumping—at the door with a big smile and wagging tail, asking everyone who passes by for attention. As soon as you sit down with him this sweet boy is all over your lap, reveling in getting lots of love—and perhaps giving you a few kisses, too! But just because Herman enjoys a little snuggle time with anyone who has a moment doesn’t mean he doesn’t like to be up and at ‘em! Herman has a lot of energy in that tiny body and enjoys stretching his legs. Zoomies and chasing toys are his favorite way to exercise. New situations can make Herman a little nervous—but he’s an active guy who would likely love going on outdoor adventures!
Working on: His manners! Herman likes to think that because he’s cute and small that he can get away with being a little naughty—especially during playtime. He gets so excited during games that he tends to jump up on people and nip pretty hard, and while on leash he tends to bark and pull towards other dogs. Herman’s previous owner also reported that he enjoys chasing small animals like birds and squirrels. Herman would benefit from basic obedience and manners training to address all of these behaviors, as well as being with a person who’s willing to avoid lots of active play until he learns not to use his mouth. Herman is a very smart boy who adores food, so he likely wouldn’t mind these lessons if it means getting some good treats!
Dream home: Herman is looking for a human who can give him the training he needs to become his best self! Because of his mouthiness, Herman’s new home should consist of adults only. He should go to a home without cats he’ll be tempted to chase, and a home without other dogs or trips to the dog park since he isn’t a fan. If you think you may be Herman’s human, come meet him today!
