At the request of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, the ASPCA assisted in the removal of 43 animals from a 1,200 square-foot home, in what appeared to be a hoarding situation in Randleman, North Carolina.

Some of the animals were discovered living among feces, urine and trash in a poorly ventilated environment. The animals, including cats, dogs, and birds have been transported to the Randolph County Animal Shelter where they are receiving care and treatment. In addition to assisting with the removal of the animals, the ASPCA is supporting the Sheriff’s Office with evidence collection, forensic exams, behavioral evaluations and initial medical care for the animals.

The suspect was taken into custody and charged with five counts of felony animal cruelty. The ASPCA’s Legal Advocacy department will work closely with law enforcement and prosecutors to ensure the best outcome for these animals.
