Every now and then we have a special animal in our care who needs a little extra help finding a home. This week, our Adoption Spotlight is on a sweet girl with a lot of love to give named Magnolia. Read on to learn more about this special cat—and please consider giving her a loving home!  

Meet Magnolia! Maggie’s story began at a local shelter, where she suffered from a wound on her back leg that kept re-opening. As Maggie showed no signs of improvement, the ASPCA stepped in and took the ailing cat for further medical treatment. X-rays showed that the sweet calico cat actually had a broken pelvis—most likely a result from a previous dog attack. Due to this extensive injury, subsequent nerve damage and the fact that Maggie was suffering from pain and discomfort, the decision was made to amputate the afflicted leg. 

Maggie improved dramatically after her surgery. Within the first week, she was already hopping around, eager to be pet or scratched under the chin. Despite a tumultuous beginning, Maggie has remained resilient. She is eager to love and be loved. Maggie may need some time to adjust to her new surroundings, and will do best with a larger litter box to accommodate her less-than-graceful hopping. Maggie is currently on anti-anxiety medication, and will sometimes continuously lick her back leg. However, she does well with a cone and the veterinary team believes that after adjusting to her new home Maggie will be able to be weaned off of her medication.
