Every now and then, we have a special cat or dog in our care who needs a little extra help finding a home. This week, our Adoption Spotlight is on Kit, a very sweet two-year-old cat who currently resides at one of our veterinary partner’s boarding facilities in Los Angeles. 

We first met Kit two years ago, when she was just a tiny newborn kitten. She was found on the street by a caring community member named Sara, who brought her in to the Downey Animal Care Center in Los Angeles. Sara agreed to foster Kit and her sister, Bell, until they were old enough to be adopted. A few months later, Sara reached out to let us know that she had become attached to the sweet kittens and wanted to adopt them both. Our Safety Net Team, who works directly with pet parents to help subsidize pet services, was able to spay and vaccinate the kittens so they were ready to join Sara in the loving home they had grown to know so well.

Almost two years later, Sara reached out to our Safety Net Managers again. Sadly, her health had been in rapid decline and she was scheduled to have surgery with a lengthy recovery. She was having a hard time finding someone to help her care for her, much less her two cats. A friend was able to take in Bell; however, she was not able to find a home for Kit. Our Safety Net Managers stepped in to assist are now hoping to finding Kit a new, loving home.

This young cat is still in our care and is eager to find a permanent home and a new best friend. Kit is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. She can be a bit shy when first meeting new people and new cats, but with time, patience—and a few yummy treats—she warms up quickly. She would do well as a single cat, but can also live with another feline friend. Please consider making Kit a part of your family!
