The Year Is Almost Over. Urge Congress to Ban Horse Slaughter NOW
After a busy election season, members of Congress have returned to their offices to finish out the year. This is our moment to urge them to permanently BAN horse slaughter.
Did you know that each year, thousands of American horses endure long, cruel transports across our borders to be to be slaughtered for human consumption? Their journey and final moments are brutal.
Horses are no longer slaughtered for food within the United States, but the ruthless horse meat industry has long employed a loophole: they transport our horses to bordering nations for slaughter.
Congress has the power to close this loophole and permanently ban the slaughter of American horses for human consumption ANYWHERE. This is the only way to ensure that horses don’t fall into the hands of kill-buyers.
Congress needs to hear from their constituents—YOU—that there is support for a ban. Here are five ways that you can speak up for horses today:
