Saddle Up: These Adoptable Horses Are Heading Out!

April 6, 2023

On April 13-16, we’re hosting our largest equine adoption event to date at Equine Affaire, America’s premier equine exposition and equestrian gathering. The event in Columbus, Ohio, includes the Adoption Affaire, which will host nearly 40 adoptable horses from 11 adoption groups. Attendees are encouraged to get to know the available horses, as well as learn about the importance of equine adoption and how it benefits horses nationwide.

Tickets to Equine Affaire are available online. For those unable to join us in person, or if you’d like a sneak peek at some of the special horses attending, here’s your chance to meet a few!

Nanner Puddin’

a white horse in a corrale facing the camera

We’re going bananas over this right horse! Like his namesake treat, Nanner is sweet, much loved and full of wonderful surprises. Born in a free-roaming herd in Kentucky, young Nanner is learning the joys of being groomed and handled. He has proven to be trainable and will likely excel in any direction.

Nomad

If you’ve been wandering through horse sale and adoption websites looking for your right horse, look no further. Nomad is the right horse for you! Fifteen-year-old Nomad is blind from a previous injury, but that doesn’t stop him. He’s well-adjusted and trusts his handler completely. He even enjoys being ridden and simply needs a bit of extra guidance. Are you ready to take the journey of a lifetime with Nomad?

Harry

Harry is 19 years young and the perfect horse for a first-time adopter. He’s an experienced show and trail horse with years of experience to bring to the partnership. He looks to his rider for reassurance around unfamiliar obstacles and is looking to form a close bond with his new person. Could handsome Harry be your perfect match?

Hemingway

Horse standing in grass

Young Hemingway shows loads of potential—whether it be behind the pages of a book or in your barn. This budding young star is believed to be a Paso Fino and American Quarter Horse cross. If you’d like to have Hemingway, have not a fear! He’ll be waiting for you at Equine Affaire.

Pippi Longstocking

Pippi is a beautiful Arabian mare who has been in training. She’d be a great fit for an intermediate rider who wants to hone their skills in the arena. She can be ridden English or Western.

New this year, a special section of the barn at the Adoption Affaire that we’re calling “Friendship Alley”  will introduce attendees to the wonderful horses looking for non-riding homes. The horses in the alley are companions with the potential to excel in liberty classes or in-hand work.

Of course, there are still plenty of ways to adopt if you can’t join us at Equine Affaire! Visit myrighthorse.org to browse hundreds of adoptable horses nationwide. You can even search by breed, gender or discipline.
