Celebrate Adopt a Shelter Cat Month by Bringing Home a Furry Friend!

June 6, 2018

While you may be prepping for the “dog days of summer,” the summer forecast at the ASPCA is cats, kittens and more cats! We kicked off Adopt a Shelter Cat month, a.k.a Cat Appreciation Month, on June 1, which also marks the height of kitten season (the time of year when we see an increase in feline breeding and an influx of young kittens in the shelter). And while the ASPCA Kitten Nursery is actively caring for hundreds of kittens round-the-clock to get them ready for new homes, there are adorable felines already waiting for loving homes right meow. That’s why the ASPCA Adoption Center is hoping that you’ll open your heart and your home to a feline friend this year. To celebrate this month, the Adoption Center will waive adoption fees for any cats one-year and older through June. Your purrfect match could be right around the corner!

Below, you’ll find some of our adorable cats looking for love this summer.

Not in the tri-state area? Check your local shelters where plenty of furry friends are waiting for someone like you to take them home! If you’re not quite ready for adoption, consider being a kitten foster caregiver! Thousands of kittens across the country need the TLC that foster caregivers provide to get them ready for new homes.
