Calling All Dog Lovers: It’s Time You Knew the Truth about Cruel Breeding

All dogs deserve the good life: sun-drenched naps, walks in the park and delicious toilet water. A life of belly rubs, tissue-tearing and tail-wagging. But the good life is a life some dogs will never know. Too many dogs spend their entire lives in tiny cages, without love, just to keep the cruel puppy industry in business. Dog lovers would be horrified to know the conditions these dogs are living in … and that many of these conditions are perfectly legal.

When they sell puppies through pet shops or online marketplaces, cruel breeders can hide not only where these babies are born, but also how their parents are treated. They hope that you’ll focus on the cuteness of the puppies and not think about where they might have come from.

Helping people understand the truth is the focus of the new ASPCA campaign Barred From Love.

“As more people learn about the horrors of puppy mills, their customer base shrinks, which will ultimately bring this vicious cruelty to an end,” says Matt Bershadker, ASPCA president and CEO. “So we encourage everyone to share the Barred From Love campaign and be the strongest voice they can for these puppies and their parents, who need it now.”

We say “enough”—this system is way beyond broken and it doesn’t have to be this way.

The ASPCA is committed to giving all dogs to good life. If you are, too, please visit barredfromlove.org to join the movement to eliminate cruel dog breeding and spread the message to your family and friends. We can’t do it without you!
