Meet Pyrite! Pyrite was rescued from a hoarding situation and then spent over two years living at a pet rescue facility before arriving at the Behavioral Rehabilitation Center (BRC) in 2021. At that time, she was too fearful to be placed for adoption, but she learned so many new skills at the BRC, like walking on leash, interacting with people and going to new places! She would do best in a home with another dog to show her the ropes and continue to build her confidence around new people. She’s still a little shy, but Pyrite is ready to meet her new family, romp around with canine friends and enjoy all that life has to offer!

Big fan of: Other dogs, especially playful male dogs. Pyrite also enjoys exploring quiet places on leashed walks. Chewies, like bully sticks are great source of joy for her, even though she’s missing some teeth!

Working on: Handling. Pyrite is learning to trust people more each day and will need a patient adopter who understands it may take her some time to warm up. She is also working on recall/coming when called and is motivated by training using positive reinforcement. Did you notice her hairdo?  She is growing her hair back (she’s healthy, she just needs some more TLC and delicious fish oil).

Dream home: Pyrite would love to go to a home with another dog.  Her wish list would include a patient adopter who can give her the time and care to ease into home life. While she’d like a fenced yard, it is not required but would be fun for romping with canine siblings.

Have you noticed the uncanny resemblance that Pyrite shares with Dante from the Disney Pixar animated film, Coco?
