Meet our adorable Ollivander! Ollivander lived with many other large Caucasian Shepherds before coming to the Behavioral Rehabilitation Center and is now ready to find a home to call his own. Ollie is looking for a dedicated, patient person to offer him a home with lots of treats, snuggles and opportunities to sniff around the outdoors!

Big fan of: Treats! Ollivander loves all kinds of food and treats. A tasty snack is the quickest way to win this guy over. He’s happy to work for his food by using a puzzle feeder or other enrichment toy, which can help him learn new skills as well! When he’s not sniffing around the yard or eating his snacks, Ollie likes to sit on the porch and watch the world go by. After a short burst of energy, he’s ready to relax and hang with his people. Ollie likes to have his own spot to relax and settle into when getting used to a new environment, such as his crate, which he enjoys being in.

Working on: His confidence. Ollivander can still be a bit fearful around new people, so going to a new home may be scary for him at first. A family who’s dedicated to helping Ollie feel safe, happy and loved will be important for him to settle in, especially in the first few weeks. Once Ollie knows you, he’ll be your friend for life. He’s also working on some indoor manners as well—he learned very quickly to potty outside, but he still sometimes steals a snack from the counter in his foster home.

Dream home: With an adopter who understands that going to a new home can be scary, and that Ollivander may need some time to open up—but he’s worth the wait! Once he gets comfortable with his new family, he’s sure to beg for belly rubs and lean against you whenever you stand still. Ollie has lived with dog-savvy cats and has learned to respect their boundaries. If there are resident dogs in the home, before deciding if it’s a match, it would be best to introduce them one-on-one first to see how they fit together. Our team would be happy to facilitate an introduction! Ollie would also likely be happy as the  only dog in the home.

Ollivander is scheduled for total hip surgery this Fall 2023. This surgery will be paid for by the ASPCA. He can go into his new home before his surgery, which would be ideal so he can build a relationship with you prior to his recovery.
