Meet Catalina! Catalina came to the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center (BRC) from another organization where she had been brought in as a stray and was observed to be extremely fearful in her foster home. But after spending some time at the BRC, she has learned about enjoying people, being more confident and enjoying all that life has to offer a sweet, mellow gal.

Big fan of: Walks in quiet places with lots of smells to sniff! This is one of the best ways to spend time with Catalina and to bond with her. While she LOVES walks, she is also a big fan of snoozing and taking it easy. Catalina especially enjoys bully sticks, Kongs and other puzzle feeder toys because she loves food and working for treats.

Working on: Confidence in busy/active environments. Catalina can be nervous on busy streets and active urban areas. She can also be nervous when meeting new people, but being able to go for walks with them and offering treats helps her warm up quickly!

Dream home: Catalina would love to be adopted into a home where there are lots of cozy places to take naps, and bonus points if they can be naps in the sunbeams! She would love a home where walking is easily accessible or with a nice, fenced yard to wander around. Catalina would really like to be the only dog in the home but would also be okay with okay with a dog sibling who is as mellow and laidback as she is. She doesn’t enjoy when other dogs try to play with her or jump on her.

Catalina had tested positive for Heartworms prior to arriving to the BRC. During her stay with us, she has finished treatment, but will continue to need medication through June 19 and requires reduced activity, such as easy leash walks, through July 18 as she heals. More information about her medical history and how to manage her activity will be provided to interested adopters after submitting an inquiry.

Catalina is a dream to spend time with and will make such a sweet, steadfast companion for someone looking for a dog who can enjoy quiet adventuring and hanging at home. If this sounds like your dream come true, please click the “Submit an Adoption Inquiry” button to learn more about her!

Please note: Our meet-and-greets take place in Weaverville, North Carolina.
