Freekibble
Mimi Ausland is an inspiring young advocate for homeless animals. Now 18, Mimi started Freekibble.com, a website that donates food to shelter animals, when she was just 11 years old.
Freekibble is an interactive site that asks visitors to answer a brief trivia question about animals. For every answer—right or wrong—the site donates pet food to shelter animals. We were so inspired by Mimi’s ingenuity that we named her ASPCA Kid of the Year in 2008.
Since then, Freekibble has fed nearly 15 million meals at shelters, rescues and food banks across the country. The ASPCA is now honored to be among the shelters receiving the program’s monthly donations of HALO Spot's Stew to feed our own cats and dogs.
Why Mimi Rocks:
Mimi was the 2008 ASPCA Kid of the Year. This kid who rocks started Freekibble.com, a website that donates food to shelter animals. To date, Freekibble.com has fed more than 14 million meals at shelters and rescues across the country and now also provides monthly donations of food to the ASPCA to feed our own cats and dogs!
Extracurriculars:
Recently Mimi started the Freekibble Cares program to help even more animals in need. Each month Mimi features a different cause to share with the Freekibble community. So far, The Freekibble Cares program has raised $127,000 for 24 different causes!
