The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today revealed the seven winners of the 2015 ASPCA Help a Horse Day contest, a nationwide grant competition for equine rescues and sanctuaries to raise awareness about the year-round work they do to save and care for at-risk horses. The three grand prize winners received $10,000 each, while the runners up were awarded $5,000 to support their ongoing efforts to protect horses.

A Fair Shake For Youth, a nonprofit group that offers under-served middle schoolers the opportunity to work hands-on with therapy and rescue dogs, is expanding its educational program, made possible by a $10,000 grant from the ASPCA. The program helps children learn respect for animals, empathy, and self-esteem by forming relationships with the dogs and training the dogs through positive reinforcement.
