Relying on the strength of more than 1,000 volunteers and no paid signature gathering firm, Citizens for Farm Animal Protection today announced that the coalition has gathered more than 130,000 signatures of Massachusetts voters in support of the proposed 2016 statewide ballot measure that would phase out extreme confinement and lifelong immobilization of animals on factory farms as well as the sale of products produced under those conditions.
ASPCA Commends the Maryland Horse Council for Endorsing a Federal Ban on Horse Slaughter in the U.S.

The ASPCA today commended the Maryland Horse Council (MHC) for adopting an official policy position opposing the slaughter of American horses for human consumption, and endorsing the Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act (H.R. 1942/S. 1214), federal legislation that would ban horse slaughter in the U.S. and prohibit the transportation of American horses for that purpose abroad.

ASPCA treats 1,000 animals since launch of NYPD partnership

The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced that 1,000 animals have been treated as a result of their life-saving partnership with the New York City Police Department, which launched citywide in January 2014. With this partnership, the NYPD took the lead role in responding to all animal cruelty complaints in the five boroughs and the ASPCA expanded its direct care support for its victims, as well as training, veterinary forensic and legal support for the NYPD.
