ASPCA Invites Animal Shelters and Rescues to Participate in National Adoption Weekend from June 5-7

Registration closes Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m. EDT; Local communities nationwide encouraged to #AdoptFromHome to find placement for thousands of cats, dogs and horses

NEW YORK – The ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) has opened registration for its National Adoption Weekend, a nationwide adoption campaign taking place from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7 to help more cats, dogs and horses in need while providing support to the animal welfare community during the COVID-19 crisis. 

With thousands of cats, dogs and horses in foster homes and shelters across the country, the ASPCA is inviting animal shelters and rescue organizations to sign up at ASPCApro.org/AdoptFromHome to access the free tools and resources needed to successfully offer remote adoptions. 

Benefits of participating in the ASPCA National Adoption Weekend may include: 

  • Tips for expanding the reach of social media adoption events and facilitating remote adoptions 
  • Minimal-exposure, contact-free adoptions recommendations
  • Inclusion in the ASPCA #AdoptFromHome map, where prospective adopters can search for shelters and rescues near them, and possible opportunities for national and local news coverage
  • Customizable social media overlays and added exposure when using the hashtag #AdoptFromHome
  • Adoption Ambassador training for foster families

“COVID-19 has put immense stress on animal shelters and rescue organizations across the country. The ASPCA National Adoption Weekend was created as a direct response to the heartwarming surge in foster caregivers across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic, to help those animals now move to adoptive homes.
