33 participating shelters hope to find more pets loving homesNEW YORK—The ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced that it has granted $20,000 toward this Saturday’s ‘Empty the Shelter’ adoption events across North Texas. 33 animal welfare organizations in the greater Dallas-Ft. Worth metropolitan area will hold special events and waive adoption fees for one day on August 16, 2014, in an effort to save the lives of thousands of shelter animals.
“The ASPCA hopes everyone in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area will head to their nearest participating shelter on Saturday and meet their next best friend,” said Julie Morris, senior vice president of community outreach for the ASPCA. “Adoption fees will be waived on puppies, kittens and adult dogs and cats and shelter staff will be on hand to make the best matches. This event has the potential to be the largest adoption effort ever held in Texas and we are proud to support it.”
