NEW YORK—The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced a grant of $5,000 to be awarded to the Humane Society of Bay County in connection with their participation in Subaru of America Inc.’s “Share the Love Event” with Buzz Leonard Subaru in Panama City, Fla.

“We are thrilled to recognize the Humane Society of Bay County for their work on behalf of the community’s homeless pets,” said Elysia Howard, ASPCA Vice President of Marketing and Licensing. “The support of organizations across the country has shown us how truly dedicated Americans are to supporting the vital work of our nation’s animal shelters.”

This year, the ASPCA conducted a contest, in conjunction with the “Share the Love Event” to find the most compelling events and activities created by local animal welfare agencies and Subaru dealerships. Five winners were selected for their inspired entries, dedicated to promoting animal shelters as the best places to adopt, while finding loving homes for their adoptable pets.

The winners who received the $5,000 donation included: Coastal Humane Society of Brunswick Maine for their event at Evergreen Subaru of Auburn Maine, Delaware Humane Association for their event at Delaware Subaru in Wilmington, Del., Kent County SPCA who partnered with Dover VW /Subaru / Audi in Dover, Del., and Oklahoma Alliance for Animals for their event at Ferguson Subaru in Tulsa, Okla.

“The Humane Society of Bay County is honored to have partnered with Buzz Leonard Subaru for the ‘Share the Love’ events. Mr. Mike Dallet and his staff have been a great support to our organization and continue to sponsor many of our fundraising events,” said Lorrie Black, Marketing Director of the Humane Society of Bay County. “We are so grateful that ASPCA introduced us to the Buzz Leonard team.

The Humane Society of Bay County partnered with Buzz Leonard Subaru to host a two day adoption event entitled “Pictures with Santa.” Buzz Leonard donated all of the costs for this $2500 event in which children and their pets were photographed with Santa.

In addition, Buzz Leonard donated $10 to the Humane Society of Bay County for every picture taken totaling $1800. Additional donations were raised through a raffle, games and t-shirt sales.

The contest helped match Subaru dealers with local animal welfare agencies around the country, which resulted in more than 350 adoptions and $28,000 raised for local agencies.
