The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced that Riverside County Department of Animal Services in Jurupa Valley, Calif. is again at the top of the leaderboard in Division Five of the 2013 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge, for sending 2,805 pets home during the first 60 days of the three-month competition, an increase of 566 lives saved over the same two months last year.

The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced that 36,790 pets were adopted or reunited with their owners during the first two months of the 2013 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge, a three-month competition where 49 animal shelters from across the country are working to increase adoptions in order to win a piece of the more than $600,000 in ASPCA prize grants, including a grand prize of $100,000.

The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced that 23 equine rescue organizations from across the nation have joined the ASPCA Rescuing Racers Initiative, now in its fourth year. The ASPCA Rescuing Racers Initiative is a major grants program which aids in the rescue and rehabilitation of retired racehorses to save them from slaughter, repurposing the horses for other areas of the equine world and giving them a new lease on life for events or pleasure riding.
