Using Animals to Test Household Products and Cosmetics

The ASPCA believes that animals should NOT be used to test household products and cosmetics. The concept of the 3 R's should be applied to household products and cosmetics testing. Commonly used skin or eye irritation tests such as Draize or other skin sensitization or phototoxicity tests should be replaced with validated in vitro methods.
