Horses Eating Acorns

I noticed that my horse was eating acorns off an oak tree. Could this be harmful to him?

Thank you for your question, Darlene. Acorns as well as oak tree leaves can be poisonous to horses, causing weakness, depression, digestive upset and a rapid pulse. Because of this, we would strongly suggest that you keep your horse away from them. Try fencing off the oak trees in your pasture or keeping him away from that area entirely.
