I’m wondering what food is best to feed my new ferret. Is it safe to give her cat food?

The best thing you can feed your ferret, Cassie, is a diet intended specifically for her species. Ferret foods are becoming increasingly available and can be found at many pet supply stores. If you cannot find a diet intended specifically for ferrets, you may feed her a high-quality kitten food, but please check online and in stores first for a food that is more nutritionally appropriate.
