"Toning Down" a Horse's Trot
-
I have a 12-year-old thoroughbred who is a great horse. However, his trot is very rough. Is there a way I can “tone down” his trot to make it smoother?

Without observing his trot, Linda, it is difficult for me to know what is making it rough. It may be that his stride is short, or that he is lifting high at the knee, or that his foot shape is causing him to have a bumpy gait. I would suggest asking a well-trained and seasoned farrieras well as a veterinarianto observe his gait. Once you have determined the cause, we may be able to develop a training plan to help with the solution.
