the spcs is generally a good organization.sometimes they go over board.have they this time,I have not seen enough pictures to say either way.but it is so easy to find someone guilty before you get all the facts.and that is a shame.would it not be great if people cared as much for children that die by the thousands every day in this world, as much as they do about animals. animals

I agree with anyone that says the jail time and fines should be far greater than they are!!! I just don't understand why these people don't give up the animals to someone that cares if they don't want to take care of them anymore!!! I still believe people should have to reside in the same conditions for a determined amount of time as the animals are forced too!!! They deserve no better!!! My thanks to all who cared and worked so hard to rescued all of these animal!!!

So happy the animals were rescued but I have to also say that I am both shocked & disappointed that this woman ONLY faces UP TO one year in jail and ONLY a $1000 dollar fine for the unspeakable cruelty she inflicted on over 100 animals. What message does that send out to others that may be doing the same thing she is doing or worse? We all know she will most likely get no jail time and maybe a few hours of community service and she will laugh all the way to the bank to pick up that mere $1000 fine. I thought we had made better progress than that for the animals. It should be mandatory jail time of 5 years and a $50,000 fine. Now that would send a strong message to anyone that is an animal abuser.

we live in a little village in Saskatchewan, Canada, we have animal shelters here but, people drop off cats and dogs at our farm from who knows where!! If the vets would charge less here to get them spayed or neutered they would all be done. We can"t afford to have them all fixed. People should be responsible for their own animals and not dump them on someone else"s doorstep. That is a disgusting way to treat animals and it makes me wonder what kind of a human being could do that to an animal. What do they do to other haman beings????

there is no excuse for treating any animal this way. People who do this should be found, fined, and put away for a long time. If I had it my way these people would suffer the same fate that they inflicted. I wish there were zero tolerance for acts against the innocent, animals and children.

It's too bad that punishment to the full extent of the "LAW" is all that will happen to the person/people that allowed this to happen to these animals. All of us who love and respect all animals must let our voices be heard loud and clear... we WILL NOT tolerate this deviant behavior towards animals, anymore than we will tolerate it towards humans. Thank you ASPCA for all that you do to let all animals voices be heard.

I love and are for animals, in general, my favorite being cats. I felt I could just sit and watch these horrible reports of abuse, say thats so sad and move on, or I can do something. I am living on disability, a fixed income, and yet I happily share my small amount of money by donating to the ASPCA (or whoever your preffered animal help org.). When I get extra, I give a little more. If Everyone did just a little, all animals would benefit. This even can apply to humanity. Put your money where your mouth is!

I heard of a case similar to this except there were 120 horses seized. It was in a surrounding county here in Tn. I praise God for the people that finally stepped in. I caught a glimpse of a couple of these horses on the news and had to change the channel it hurt me so badly. Most were emaciated, you could see their ribs. There's absolutely no excuse for this. So sad!!!

Who would do something like that to the animals who have done no harm to them. I think that the person should not be allowed to ever own any kind of domesticated animals again after seeing some of the pictures of the lovely equines having filth on their fur coats for no apparent reason and the person who owned these wonderful creatures should be treated the way that they have treated their animals and owning 53 cats is out rageous because the other cats can lose their fur due to stress and other health aliments. Having these animals live in deplorable conditions is completely unacceptable on the part of the owner of the farm, they should deifinitely live in these deplorable conditions because they are forcing the animals basically to live in their own feces and urine and I find that completely unacceptable because I am an owner of some cats and on top of that I am an animal lover of all sorts.

I know how you feel Meg -March 26th, 2010 I own a beautiful buff and orange kitty that I love so much but, to have 53 cats is unhumane.I'm sure none of them were spayed or nutered. This is an act of cruelty to those helpless cats. It's like some people throw them outside and could care less if they survive. It breaks my heart. Where I live we are only allowed one small animal or I would have gotten another one at the same time for a playmate but, Baby gets lot's of lap time.

I have 2 horses, 4 dogs and 1 cat that I love more than life itself, but if I were put in a position to where I couldn't care for my animals, I would certainly be busy trying to find them a GOOD home or at least, asking for help from the community. How could anyone be so inhumane as to let these animals breed indiscriminately, go without needed medical attention, live in filthy surroundings, and more than likely, go without food and clean water! This person(s) needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This was nothing more than a death camp for these beautiful and loving creatures.

My feeling is if you can't take care of the animal: giving proper shelter, food, attention and medical needs, than don't get an animal. Pets are like children - there are many people out there that see pets as possessions rather than living, breathing beings. I wish we could punish these people by doing to them what they did to their animals.

When the Horse Industry and all the non profit groups take an interest, in the actual welfare of the animals, such as in the cause of broken legs, hoof injuries, and laminitis instead of making warm and fuzzy documentaries and headlines, it might make a difference. Over 1000 racing horses are destroyed, each year, at race tracks, and vet clinics make millions from treating symptoms and diagnostics, for conditions that are easily prevented. The information has been around for years, but the money is in the diagnostics and treatment, or raising money to bitch about it, instead of using the solution.
