Sushi
Love at First Climb
Kathleen McCann wrote in to give us this update on her new kitty:
I adopted Sushi, a one-year-old Domestic Shorthair, in January 2012. I had grown up with cats and really wanted to get one again, so I wandered past the ASPCA on the Upper East Side. Living in a small apartment, I had to be conscious of the space and what type of cat I got.
When I first met Sushi, he was cuddly and seemed to be full of energy, but used his energy in ways that would work in a small space. What do I mean by that? I was standing in the enclosure Sushi was in with some other cats, getting to know him (holding him). He rapidly decided to get to "higher ground" by climbing up on to my shoulders and on top of my head. Yes, he actually had himself on my head. It was love at first climb!
Today, Sushi still loves to climb and can often be found sitting on my shoulders while I type. Since I've brought him home, he's become more outgoing and vivacious. He is a show-stealer, but also loves his mom and adores giving kisses. His favorite place in my apartment is the window ledge, looking outside in to a courtyard of an adjacent building, and he loves his feather toy.
Sushi is a total love bug and enjoys nothing more than a belly rub—which makes me wonder if he thinks he's part dog.
