P/T Coordinator, Animal Assisted Therapy Programs

Job Summary:

The Coordinator in this position will support the ASPCA Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) programs including coordinating and presenting seminars on Animal Assisted Therapy, organizing therapy animal evaluations and seminars, acting as a point of contact for our affiliate organization, and other administrative duties. This is a part-time (not to exceed 20 hours /week) position requiring travel within Manhattan and other NYC boroughs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and teach therapy dog training classes
  • Schedule and organize therapy animal evaluations and seminars
  • Ensure up-to-date department accordance with affiliate group policies
  • Liaise with internal and affiliate organization staff members
  • Provide timely communications to volunteers, staff, and the general public
  • Maintain department budget and inventory
  • Complete administrative duties as required
  • Assist during therapy animal evaluations as needed
  • Travel within Manhattan and other NYC boroughs as needed

Education:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Certified pet dog trainer – knowledge assessed (CPDT-KA) preferred

Experience:

  • Three to five years of dog training experience
  • Animal-assisted therapy experience desirable
  • Experience with cats desirable

Training Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License a plus

Additional Information:

  • Travel required within NYC
  • Must occasionally lift and move up to 35 pounds
  • Must be self-guided individual requiring minimal supervision
  • Must be able to travel throughout NYC
